A (Remote) Day in the Office

A day in the office at Collective Position means tuning into the latest current affairs program while (remotely) bantering about your latest Netflix binge.   Switching to an in-depth discussion on the politics of the day, while checking emails, hitting the phones and social while downing your second coffee for the day (if that is your thing - we try not to judge if it is tea). 

 It also means being a key part of our busy tight-knit team, bringing your best β€œbe your own boss” game and taking charge to deliver real outcomes for our clients.  Above all, it means you’ll be thrilled that today looks different to yesterday, be comfortable to hit the ground running on the latest issue and have a lot of laughs along the way.

The Role

We are fishing for a qualified client coordinator to support our consultants and clients by delivering the following:

  • Organise and attend client meetings including, preparing and issuing board packs and taking minutes;

  • Coordinate meetings with stakeholders (including State and Federal Ministerial offices) and ensure all documentation has been provided ahead of time;

  • Preparing and issuing stakeholder correspondence;

  • Attending and participating in weekly team Work In Progress (WIP) meetings to playing your part on keeping your team up to date on various actions that have been allocated to you;

  • Coordinating our accounts in partnership with our bookkeeper;

  • Assisting in desk-top research to inform client policy positions, communication activities or campaigns including updating social media; and

  • Assisting in managing the Director’s diary and travel arrangements.

 Β·       This role can be delivered flexibly for the right candidate.

Β·       Salary will be negotiated based on experience and skills.

 

The Skills to Set You On a Path to Success:

This role will suit an experienced administrator or an emerging policy or communications practitioner with the following:

Β·       A completed or soon be completed degree in Politics, Policy or Communications;

Β·       Ability to be tenacious under pressure and see actions through;

Β·       A love of and commitment to excellence in remote working;

Β·       Great customer service and communication skills and the ability to build relationships;

Β·       Tech savvy with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, office) as well as being able to pick up new software such as content management systems, video conferencing, social media applications and workflow packages;

Β·       A flexible attitude to switch easily between priorities and clients; and

Β·       An awesome sense of humour for those days when government does its thing (you know what I mean).

The Role

We are fishing for a qualified Policy Advisor to support our clients with the following: 

  • Monitor government policy to provide advice on the issues impacting our clients;

  • Develop policy positions and submissions on a range of topics;

  • Prepare talking points and meeting briefs for ministerial, department or stakeholder meetings;

  • Attend these meetings to advocate the case; and

  •  Attend client board meetings to design policy and advocacy strategies and report on our wins.

The skills to set you on a path to success: 

  • A love of and commitment to excellence in remote working;

  • The ability to travel to attend stakeholder and government meetings (particularly in Melbourne and Canberra);

  • Understanding the cycles of government and policy and how to influence these;

  • Researching, analysing, interpreting and designing approaches for policy action;

  • An entrepreneurial mindset to spot new opportunities for business development;

  • Great communications and report writing ability;

  • A people person who loves to build working relationships;

  • A flexible attitude to switch easily between priorities and clients; and

  • An awesome sense of humour for those days when government does its thing (you know what I mean).
